Task Pane in PowerPoint 2016 for Mac

The Task Pane is a docked area within the PowerPoint 2016 for Mac interface that provides more options than dialog boxes. Also, unlike most dialog boxes which cover the Slide Area, you can view both the active slide(s) and the Task Pane at the same time. The Task Pane, therefore, provides a more streamlined experience. In fact, all the options within the Format dialog boxes from older versions of PowerPoint are now available within the new Format Task Panes in PowerPoint 2016 for Mac.

With a single click, Picture Styles can transform a simple looking picture to something more distinct. Note that unlike Shape Styles, Picture Styles are not Theme specific. They just transform your picture to make it look stylish by applying a border, or a 3-D effect, or by changing the frame shape, etc. Follow these steps to apply Picture Style presets to selected pictures in PowerPoint Online.

Insert Pictures in PowerPoint Online

It is true that both pictures and words are important, and they both play complementary roles. If you had to choose just one of them; then seeing is a much more important part of presenting. Presentations, by their very nature, are meant to be seen since they evoke actions such as project, display, or broadcast; and all of these actions represent visual media. Text and speaking are important too, but you can be more effectively heard and remembered if your content includes both text and pictures.

Change Default Shape Attributes in PowerPoint 2016 for Windows

When you insert a new shape on a slide in PowerPoint 2016 (or in any previous version), by default it is filled with a solid color and an outline (or something else depending on the Theme your presentation is based on). For example in a new blank presentation that we created, the shape is by default filled with a blue solid fill and has a thin dark blue outline. Whenever we insert another new shape on a slide, it will possess these same default shape attributes (fill, outline, and effect).

Artistic Effects for Picture Backgrounds in PowerPoint 2016 for Windows

Default slide background options are limited to solid or gradient fills, and yes, you can even apply a picture as a slide background. However, picture backgrounds do pose some issues, especially since a busy picture may hamper the visibility of other slide objects such as text or charts. Fortunately, PowerPoint provides options to reduce the intensity of a picture background so that any foreground elements such as text can stand apart.
