Sections make your presentation slides easy to manage, since they are divided into logical parts. Also, adding and renaming Sections enables you to categorize your presentation slides. Yet, even after dividing your slides into Sections, you will want to move slides from one Section to another. How do you do so?

Follow these steps to move slides between sections in PowerPoint 2016 for Windows:

  1. Open your presentation that already has sections added. Access Slide Sorter view and click upon the slide that you want to move to a different section. In Figure 1, below, you can see that we are within a section named Content, as shown highlighted in blue within Figure 1. The selected slide 6 is highlighted, as shown in Figure 1. You can also select more than one slide, as required.
  2. Slide selected within the Slide Sorter view

  3. Drag the selected slide(s) with the primary mouse button held down to the section where you want it to be moved. You can see that the selected slide is being dragged into a new section named Resources, as shown highlighted in blue within Figure 2, below. You can see a highlight around the slide being dragged within the new section, as shown in Figure 2. You can also drag the slide to a position between two existing slides.

  5. Release the mouse button at the position where the slide(s) are to be placed. This action will move the selected slide from the previous section to the new section, as shown in Figure 3, below.
  6. Slide moved to a new Section

  7. Similarly, you can select multiple slides (both sequential or non-sequential) and drag to a new section.
