When launched, PowerPoint Online typically opens the Presentation Gallery that you can see in Figure 1, below. This Presentation Gallery provides several ways to start your new presentation using a template, a Theme, a recent presentation, a not-so-recent presentation, or even a blank presentation. These and other choices are explained in this tutorial.

Each element of the PowerPoint Online Presentation Gallery is explained below, as marked in Figure 1 above:

A. Recent

Here, you see all your recent presentations. To open, click on the name of any recent presentation. Don't be surprised if you see presentations that you may not have edited or opened on this computer since PowerPoint Online lets you work with presentations created anywhere, including ones that you create on your tablet or phone.

B. Open from OneDrive

This option brings up your OneDrive folders where you can locate a PowerPoint file to click, so as to open within PowerPoint Online.

C. Add a place

This option allows you to add or remove saved locations. At this point in time, you can add a Dropbox account. You cannot remove your OneDrive account, or even add an extra OneDrive account. Learn more in our Add Dropbox to PowerPoint Online tutorial.

D. Themes and Templates

This section provides quick access to the templates. Click on the New blank presentation thumbnail to create a blank presentation. Alternatively, click on any of the templates to open a new presentation based on that template. To access more templates, scroll down and click the See more templates option, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 2 below.

E. Upload a Presentation

Do you already have some PowerPoint presentations that you want to edit in PowerPoint Online? You can easily upload these to your OneDrive storage and open them in PowerPoint Online. Of course, you can upload these along with any other files on OneDrive itself, but PowerPoint Online does provide an easier way to upload. Even better, PowerPoint Online opens the uploaded presentation for you, ready to edit immediately after uploading! We explain this more in our Upload Presentations in PowerPoint Online tutorial.

F. Get PowerPoint for your device

Clicking this link opens a browser window that lets you get an Office 365 subscription which lets you run PowerPoint as a program on your computer, tablet, and phone devices.

G. My account

Launches a browser window that shows your Office account. This page shows whether you have any Office 365 subscriptions, and how many installs you have used. It also provides details about when your Office 365 subscriptions are set to expire/renew.

H. Sign out

Click here to sign out from OneDrive. This will allow others (or even you) to sign in using another OneDrive account.
