Office Mobile: Apple App Store Does Not Let Me Install?

OK, you have an iOS device and you visit the Apple App Store to download Office Mobile, but then you run into problems. You can either not find Office Mobile at all, or you are not allowed to install it. Why does that happen, and what can you do? Here are some guidelines to get you started.

  • You may not be able to locate Office Mobile on the App Store because you live in a country whose App Store does not yet offer Office Mobile. Microsoft does plan to make this app available on all international App Stores but they started with the US App Store.
  • You may be looking within the iPad tab of the App Store. Click the iPhone tab, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 1, below.

  • You may also be using an unsupported iOS device. For example, we received the error message you see in Figure 2 when we tried to install Office Mobile on a 2nd generation iPad.
