You know that PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office programs allow you to open and save files directly to your OneDrive folders. Other than OneDrive, PowerPoint also supports Dropbox as a cloud alternative.
In this tutorial, we will explore adding Dropbox as a Place location in PowerPoint 365 for Windows:
- Click the File option in PowerPoint to bring up Backstage view. Next, click the Open tab to bring up the options shown in Figure 1, below. Proceed by clicking the Add a Place option, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 1, below.

Figure 1: Add a Place option
- Doing so brings up the Add a Place options towards the right, as shown in Figure 2, below. One of the Place options is Dropbox, as can be seen, highlighted in red, as shown in Figure 2.

Figure 2: Select Dropbox from the Place options
- This action brings up the dialog box shown in Figure 3, below. You can sign up via your Google or Apple account if those are linked to Dropbox. Alternatively, you can type in your email address within the Email box, as shown highlighted in green within Figure 3. Next, click the Continue button, highlighted in red within Figure 3.

Figure 3: Type your Dropbox email
- In the next screen, type in your password, as shown highlighted in green within Figure 4, below. Next, click the Log in button, highlighted in red within Figure 4.

Figure 4: Type in your Dropbox password
- You may optionally see a screen that calls for additional authentication, as shown in Figure 5, below. A code is sent to your email address. Type in this code in the box, highlighted in green within Figure 5. You can also select the Trust this computer check-box, as shown highlighted in blue within Figure 5. Next, click the Continue button, highlighted in red within Figure 5.

Figure 5: Authenticate your Dropbox log in
- Since Dropbox integration as a Place is in beta, you will need to request a beta invite, as shown in the subsequent screen in Figure 6, below. Click the Request beta invite button, highlighted in red within Figure 6. You will be asked a few questions next. These survey questions are from Dropbox, and not from Microsoft.

- That’s all for now. We are still waiting for our Dropbox invite and will update this tutorial page when that happens.
