Insert Online Media Elements in PowerPoint 2013 for Windows

Learn how to insert various online media elements in PowerPoint 2013.

PowerPoint allows you to insert various types of slide elements on the slide including media elements such as: Pictures, Videos, and Audios. In the newest version on PowerPoint 2013 the users are also allowed to insert media elements from some selected sites. This way you dont have to limit yourself with the media elements on your system -- also you don't have to download the media element and then insert within your presentation.

In this tutorial we'll show how you can insert various online media elements:

  1. Launch PowerPoint 2013, and open a Blank Presentation or any presentation, and access to the slide where you want to insert the online media elements, as shown in Figure 1. The default slide layout is the Title Slide you can easily change the slide layout to something else.

  2. Now access the Insert tab of the Ribbon, and click the Online Pictures button, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 2.

  3. This bring up the Insert Pictures dialog box, as shown in Figure 3. Within this dialog box you'll find the online picture service providers listed - such as Office.com Clip Art, Bing Image Search, and from your SkyDrive account. Other than these three services you can add pictures from you Facebook and Flickr accounts - but only after you connect to these accounts from within PowerPoint.

    Just type in the keyword(s) within the box placed next to the service you want to insert the picture from, and press Enter key.
  4. Based on the service you have selected and the keyword(s) entered you'll get the result in the next window, as shown in Figure 4. Select any of the picture and then click the Insert button (highlighted in blue within Figure 4).

  5. This inserts the selected picture on your slide, as shown in Figure 5.

  6. To insert a online video, access the Insert tab of the Ribbon. Click the Video button, and from the drop-down gallery choose Online Video option, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 6.

  7. This bring up the Insert Video dialog box, as shown in Figure 7. Within this dialog box you'll find the online video service providers listed - such as Bing Video Search, YouTube, From a Video Embed Code, and from your SkyDrive account. Other than these services you can add video from you Facebook accounts - but only after you connect to your Facebook account from within PowerPoint.

    Just type in the keyword(s) within the box placed next to the service you want to insert the video from, and press Enter key.
  8. Based on the service you have selected and the keyword(s) entered you'll get the result in the next window, as shown in Figure 8. Select any of the video and then click the Insert button (highlighted in blue within Figure 8).

  9. This inserts the selected online video on your slide, as shown in Figure 9.

  10. To see the inserted online video playing you need to play the presentation in Slide Show view to get the player controllers.
  11. To insert a online audio, access the Insert tab of the Ribbon. Click the Audio button, and from the drop-down gallery choose Online Audio option, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 10.

  12. This bring up the Insert Audio dialog box, as shown in Figure 11. Within this dialog box you'll find only one online audio service provider Office.com Clip Art. Here, just type in the keyword(s) within the box placed next to the service you want to insert the audio from, and press Enter key.

  13. Based on the keyword(s) entered you'll get the result in the next window, as shown in Figure 12. Select any of the audio and then click the Insert button (highlighted in blue within Figure 12).

  14. This inserts the selected audio on your slide, as shown in Figure 13.
