Publish Options in Adobe Presenter

Explore various publish options within Adobe Presenter.

Product/Version: PowerPoint

After you create your eLearning project using Adobe Presenter within PowerPoint, you will no doubt want to publish your content in a format suitable to deploy. Adobe Presenter provides various publish options, and you can opt to publish locally, or even host via the Adobe Connect Server. You can also publish to SWF, HTML5, leading LMSs, and video sharing sites like YouTube or Vimeo. Let us explore how you can use these Publish options.

To explore various Publish options, follow these steps:

  1. Open the presentation which you want to publish, thereafter access the Adobe Presenter tab of the Ribbon, and click the Publish button, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 1.
  2. Publish button within the Presentation group

  3. Note: If you don't have the Adobe Presenter tab within the Ribbon in PowerPoint, that may indicate you haven't installed it. This tab is not built-in within PowerPoint and is installed as part of a PowerPoint add-in from Adobe called Presenter.
  4. This opens the Publish Presentation dialog box, as shown in Figure 2.
  5. Publish Presentation dialog box

  6. Within the Publish Presentation dialog box you'll find three tabs My Computer, Adobe Connect, and Adobe PDF. These are three publish options, which are explained below, as marked in Figure 2 above.
  7. A. My Computer

  8. Within this tab you will find options to publish your presentation locally into a SWF (Flash) or HTML5 file (or even both). Choose the location where you want the output to be saved. You can also select the Zip package check-box to add all presentation files to a Zip file. Or the CD package (with autorun for CD) check-box if you plane to distribute the presentation on a CD ROM.
  9. B. Adobe Connect

  10. You can publish the presentation directly to an Adobe Connect Server in your publishing list. To do so you must be connected to the Internet and have a Connect Pro account. Adobe Presenter integrates fully with Connect Pro, for example, presentations containing quizzes can have quiz results automatically sent to and managed by an Adobe Connect Server. When you publish to an Adobe Connect Server, the presentation is published to the Content library. The presentation can be taken from the Content library and added to a Connect Pro meeting, training session, or with a URL provided by the Content library.

  12. C. Adobe PDF

  13. Within this tab you will get options to publish your presentation (with the slide animation preserved) into a PDF file, as shown in Figure 4. Choose and navigate to the location where you want to save the file. Optionally select the View output after publishing check-box to open the PDF when publishing is complete. Note that to view the published PDF file you require Adobe Reader 9 or higher.

  15. After choosing the publish option click the Publish button (highlighted in red within Figure 4, above). When you publish, if you have not chosen a location of your own, a new folder with the same name as the presentation is created by default and placed in your My Documents\My Adobe Presentations folder. The new folder contains all of the presentation files, copies of attachments, and any audio, video, and image files that are part of the presentation.

  16. Note: A message may appear stating that all files will be deleted, click Yes. Each time you generate your presentation, the files in your current output folder are deleted and replaced by the newly generated files.
  17. Save your presentation often.
