Clichés: Globe Pictures
Globes again on your slides? And why not? A globe represents so much – just adding a picture of a globe can scream
“international”! And maybe that’s the problem? Maybe that’s the cliché? Maybe it would be better to use something else
as a visual rather than a globe? Now these questions have “maybe” written all over them, and you really cannot expect
to get simple “yes” and “no” answers, as in “yes, you can still use a globe picture”, or “no, you cannot”. Even then,
we can still discuss and find solutions for ourselves – not through direct answers, but through introspection.

Clichés: Phone Operator Pictures
We already looked at how you can overcome clichéd pictures, and we thereafter specifically looked at examples of
handshake and globe pictures. Yes, those two visual concepts may be the most clichéd ones, but there’s yet another
clichéd picture scenario – and that’s the picture of a phone operator! The phone operator is more often female than
male. She has a big smile and looks at you while she is also holding a phone in one hand. Such pictures are often
used anywhere people want to represent “communication”.

Working with Snap to Grid
Making gridlines visible on your slides in PowerPoint 2016 is only a good idea if you use the Grid feature to attain
some results. If you are serious about using Grids to position slide objects with more precision, you must first visit
the options available for changing Grid settings. Once you have played around with the grid settings, you are better
equipped and prepared to explore how the Snap to Grid feature can help you accurately position and move slide objects
such as pictures, shapes, or anything else you can select and move on a slide!
Guides
Like Gridlines, Guides also allow you to position and snap your slide objects in place. For most professional slide designers, creating slides without guides would be very worrisome! When guides are enabled for the first time within PowerPoint, you can just see two guides by default. These guides are two dotted lines, one horizontal and the other vertical. They span to intersect exactly at the center of the slide.

Recent Tab in Backstage View
The Recent option within the Backstage View provides you with a list of recently opened presentations so that you
can quickly select the one that you want to work upon. Further, the Recent option provides you with a couple of other
tricks.
Open and Close Tabs in Backstage View
When you click the File menu and access Backstage view in PowerPoint, several options appear. On this page, we explore the Open
option, which brings up various Places from where you can open a PowerPoint file. You will also find the Recent Folders list,
that contains previously accessed folders.
