Finding Your Presentation Metaphor
For most people, creating presentations is not their day job. They sell things. They manage people. They drive projects. They
make stuff happen. So it’s understandable that when it becomes necessary to actually create a presentation, the process is
rarely motivated by an understanding of the science of how our brains actually assimilate information (who has time for
that).

Export a Presentation to a Video Clip
You can export your presentation slides created within PowerPoint into a video clip in either WMV or MP4 formats. This is
probably the easiest way to create quick videos from your slides and is best suited for converting photo slides to video
clips. You can also use this technique to create video clips from PowerPoint that can be uploaded to YouTube or other video
sharing sites.
Office Background
While working in PowerPoint and other Office applications, you will see the concept of “Office Background”, which
essentially indicated the small image strip visible on the top right area of the program interface. You'll see the
PowerPoint 2016 interface with Office Background applied. It does look like PowerPoint just got tattooed!

Hierarchical Guide Options
Enabling Guides for your presentation slides helps ensure that your objects are easily aligned, and also in the same
relative position in successive slides. But just enabling Guides is more like getting started. There’s so much more you
can do, such as customizing the Guides themselves using hierarchical options. PowerPoint 2016 also lets you work with
Guides on a higher hierarchical level within the Slide Master and individual Slide Layouts. Depending on whether you added
Guides within the Slide Master, an individual Slide Layout, or even a normal slide, your Guides are color-coded for easy
identification.
Duplicate, Rename, and Edit Slide Layouts
All slides within PowerPoint are based on one of the available Slide Layouts. These layouts can be chosen when you add a
new slide or you can even change the layout of your existing slides. Each of these layouts offers a different look for your
slide, and the layout you choose for any particular slide will depend upon the type of slide you are creating or editing.
While these available layouts seem to cover most types of slides, you may sometimes want to create a new layout based on
your individual requirements.
Applying Themes
Basically, Themes are like a style sheet for your Office documents. They define how your text appears, where it appears,
and also the layouts of your slides. Themes also influence how charts look within Excel and PowerPoint, and also how your
tables appear in all Office programs. You can also change the Theme for an Office document, sheet, or slide and watch how
this simple task can change the overall appearance of your content.
