Insert Online Audio in PowerPoint 2013 for Windows

You can insert an audio file from your PC into your PowerPoint slide. PowerPoint even enables you to insert an audio file from online sources without any need to open your web browser.

Follow these steps to insert an online audio clip into your presentation in PowerPoint 2013.

  1. Navigate to the slide where you want to add a sound. From the Insert tab of Ribbon, click the down-arrow below the Audio button to bring up the drop-down menu, as shown in Figure 1, below. From this menu, choose the Online Audio option, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 1.

  3. Doing so brings up the Insert Audio dialog box, as shown in Figure 2, below. Within this dialog box you'll find online picture service providers listed, such as Office.com Clip Art.

  5. Now, type in the keyword(s) within the box placed next to the service you want to insert the picture from, and press the Enter key. For this tutorial, we are searching picture from Office.com Clip Art service and we choose chime as our keyword, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 2, above.


  6. Based on the keyword(s) entered, you'll get results in the next window, as shown in Figure 3, below. Select any audio clip. The selected audio clip is indicated by a highlighted border, as shown in Figure 3. Then, click the Insert button highlighted in blue within Figure 3.

  8. Also, you can preview the audio by hovering your cursor over the audio icon. You'll see a tool-tip within the audio file name and text saying loading preview, as shown highlighted in blue within Figure 4, below. Make sure that the speakers are connected.

  10. The selected audio clip will be downloaded and inserted within your slide, as shown in Figure 5, below. To preview to the inserted audio clip, click the Play button, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 5.

  12. Make sure to save your presentation often.
