Backdrop Designer creates resolution-independent backgrounds with detailed textures and lighting areas that look like what you find inexpensive muslin canvases used in photography studios. The output is entirely amazing. Hundreds of pre-made backdrops are available and you can customize your own presets.
Backdrop Designer is from Digital Anarchy, a company based in San Francisco, California, United States that specializes in special effect filters for image editing and video programs.
You can download a free demo of Backdrop Designer from the Digital Anarchy site. This demo version works identical to the full version other than including a watermark in the output.
We often use Backdrop Designer to create "wow" backgrounds for PowerPoint presentations!
How To Use
- Using Backdrop Designer is simple indeed. Just import your foreground subject into a composition. This foreground subject should be something that's a cutout with any background removed, as shown in Figure 1, below.

- Next, select the background layer. If you have no background layer, create a new one. With the background layer active choose the Filter | Digital Anarchy | Backdrop Designer option. Doing so open the Backdrop Designer interface, as shown in Figure 2, below.

- Load and mix the Texture and Shadow sources as required. Backdrop Designer provides umpteen ways to tweak and design your backdrops. When you are satisfied with the result, click the Check Mark apply icon.
- Backdrop Designer now applies the output to the background layer, as can be seen in Figure 3, below.
