Once you visit Docs.com in any browser, you will have to sign into Docs.com to really achieve anything useful on this site. However, there's one important task that you can perform even without signing in -- and that is to search and browse existing content that other users have uploaded to this site. Note that while you need not be signed into Docs.com to search and browse the content, signing in can still be useful if you want to comment or even download a file.

Let's now explore searching and browsing content:

  1. Open the Docs.com site in any browser, as shown in Figure 1. Within the Docs.com homepage, you'll find the Search box, highlighted in green within Figure 1.

  2. Type in your search keyword(s) -- for example, we searched using the term "PowerPoint". Then press the Enter key, or click the adjacent Magnifying Glass button.
  3. This brings up search results, as shown in Figure 2. You can see the number of results found (shown highlighted in red within Figure 2).

  4. Results are shown as a list from top to bottom. As of now, there are no buttons to move to the next page of results. To view any result, click on the large thumbnail to see the content.
Note: You can also filter results to show only files of a particular type, license, or language -- we explore this in our Filter Search Results in Docs.com tutorial.
