Introduction

Millions of presentations may be created each day, but you may only see a few each week. And even then they all look the same to you. Your newspaper changes their layouts, web sites rehaul their identities, companies go through image makeovers, even television looks different and more contemporary each day.

So why do people make presentations that look the same? That's typically because they use the designs that are built inside PowerPoint. The product being reviewed here allows you to make your presentations look different and contemporary.

About PowerFinish Volume 6

PowerFinish is from Studio F, a company based in Sarasota, Florida, USA. Studio F creates PowerPoint templates and backgrounds. You can learn more about PowerFinish Volume 6 and other products at their site...

PowerFinish Volume 6 is a set of 50 PowerPoint design templates that comprise an assortment of abstracts, geometry, and strokes with a painted canvas look. It is very contemporary, and the entire collection is available in both 4:3 standard and 16:9 HD sizes.

All of the hi-def designs are 1280 X 720 pixels, the same resolution you see on a high definition TV broadcast. If you haven't used it before, you'll be happy to find that the 720p format offers many opportunities for new content arrangements with multiple columns, text callouts with photos.

My contact at Studio F for this review was Joye Argo - thank you, Joye.

Joye adds that she "personally finds the high def format to be especially elegant and really like the viability of additional slide layouts using 2+ columns. The 16:9 ratio looks so professional and it allows users to create zones on the screen".

About the designs, Joye says that these were "designed around organic paint techniques. There is a remarkable range of media styles represented: thick, textured oils; monochromatic charcoal like drawings; vivid watercolors; soft chalky pastels".

Featured Story

Adobe Captivate's Edit View

In an earlier post last week, I discussed Adobe Captivate's views and compared them to PowerPoint's deafult views. I also explained about the Storyboard View. In this post, I'll look at Captivate's Edit view, which in many ways is similar to PowerPoint's Normal view. If you are not already in Edit view within Captivate, choose the View drop-down in the toolbar, and select Edit View.
