There are many times when I want to convert my PowerPoint presentations to video clips. This could be because I want to upload these video clips to YouTube and other video sharing sites, or maybe I want to create a DVD from my PowerPoint presentation. Whatever my motive, it's never an uncomplicated task to convert PowerPoint slides to a video format.

Acoolsoft PPT2Video Converter claims to make this task simple and easy -- in this review, we will explore how it fares.

About Acoolsoft PPT2Video Converter

Acoolsoft PPT2Video Converter is from Acoolsoft, a Shenzhen, China based company that created other PowerPoint conversion programs like PPT2DVD, PPT2YouTube, PPT to Flash etc. You can learn more about PPT2Video Converter from their site...

Acoolsoft PPT2Video Converter converts PowerPoint presentations to popular videos formats such as AVI, WMV, MPEG, MP4, MOV, FLV and 3GP. It claims it will retain the original animation, video/audio clips and other content. If this works, you can convert and share your favorite PowerPoint presentations on YouTube, iPod, PDA, and even mobile phones like the iPhone without any programming knowledge. The product supports import of up to 12 presentations at a time, and displays the conversion process with a task list manager. The Auto PC shut-down option turns off your system off after converting all those PowerPoint presentations to video clips.

My contact at Acoolsoft for this review was Joan Andrew -- thank you, Joan.

  5. The Profile option is available right below the Output dropdown list. This shows the output video profile, such as format, TV standard, aspect ratio and so on.

  6. Also, next to Profile option there is a Settings button -- click this to change video properties. This opens the Settings window as shown in Figure 5.

The setting window has a list of all the video formats and their properties. There are four tabs in the setting window:

    • Properties: Here you can set the TV and Video standards, set aspect ratio and set the display size.
    • Timing: Here you can add delay at the end of each slide. If the transition time is set in PowerPoint, the time you set in PPT2Video Converter will not work as the application retains the transition time of the original file.
    • Sound Setup: This feature requires Acoolsoft Sound Recorder, which helps you retain all sounds in your presentations no matter what formats they are, with synchronization. You are prompted to install the Acoolsoft Sound Recorder when you install the PPT2Video program.
    • Layout: Here you can set the display settings of the output video, set your videos to full-screen displays, etc. You can also set the margin area for a CRT monitor. Finally, apply a solid fill, picture or choose from inbuilt templates for a margin fill.

When done with changes, click OK to apply.

  7. Now choose a folder to locate the output video on your computer.

  8. Click the Start button to start the conversion process.

  9. When done, Acoolsoft PPT2Video shows the Conversion Result window.
