Katerina: This time, we have launched three contests:

  1. New Year Collage -- the task consists in creating a New Year photo collage using any AKVIS programs and the provided photos, available on the contest page. You can also add elements from your images, but the provided photos should be the basis for the photo collage.

  2. Four Seasons -- turn summer to winter, winter to autumn! Everything is possible with AKVIS software! Take one of the provided photos, and use one or several AKVIS programs (+ any other tools) and try to change the season on a photo. You should use the given photos.

  3. Greet Santa Claus! -- in this contest you should disguise yourself as Santa Claus or even as his reindeer. The main condition is to use AKVIS programs. Use your photos, or photos of your relatives, friends (if they agree).
Geetesh: How well do AKVIS products work in the contest workflows?

Katerina: A participant should use at least one of our software, or more, even all our programs. He or she can also use tools from other developers, for example, Photoshop.

More details can be found on the contest site -- entries must be submitted by December 29th, 2008.

Do you need to make clipping paths on your pictures often? Photoshop has evolved through the versions to make this much easier than before -- yet there's nothing better than getting someone else to do this. It's even better if you don't have to pay sky high rates for something like this, and if you can get these back the same day. MisterClipping.com promises all this, and while I still haven't tested it out, it looks quite good on the surface.

One of these days, I might use their promotional code and open a free account to try -- but meanwhile, you want to take a look at their site, as shown in Figure 1 below.

iPad Presenting 07: Wired iPad to VGA with the Apple Digital AV AdapterSo much about presenting with an iPad depends upon how you can send the visual signals from your iPad to the projector or television outputs. We have already established that the wireless way of connecting the iPad to an output is far superior since it lets you hold the iPad in your hand and control your slides wirelessly – that way you are free to move around in your presentation venue – more often than not this approach requires an in-between device such as an Apple TV 2. What we have not discussed so far is how you can use a wired option that lets you cable your iPad directly to an output such as a VGA capable projector or television.

Learn about how you can use the Apple Digital AV Adapter with your iPad.
