Theme Builder Anomalies: Removed Content from Themes
After finding that Themes saved in Theme Builder were not working in PowerPoint 2010 (Windows) and 2011 (Mac), we decided to explore the issue further, and find out what exactly Theme Builder did to cause these incompatibilities. So, to compare the Theme saved in Theme Builder with it's original version (which was saved in PowePoint 2007/2010 as a Theme), we opened both of them in Microsoft Visual Studio, an integrated development environment (IDE) from Microsoft.

Theme Builder Anomalies: Themes Incompatible with PowerPoint 2010 and 2011
We have seen strange things happening with Theme Builder and how it plays with PowerPoint 2010 (and PowerPoint 2011 for Mac). For some reason, Theme Builder creates THMX files that are not too well supported by the newer versions of PowerPoint. The solution is to keep a copy of older Theme aware versions of PowerPoint installed, and resave the THMX from within those programs!

I already showed you how you can save Themes from within Office 2008 applications. In this tutorial, I'll now show you how you can do the same from within the various Office 2011 for Mac applications. Microsoft Office 2011 includes plenty of Themes that allow you to change how your documents, slides, and worksheets look. These Themes are available in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint -- in PowerPoint 2011, these built-in Themes can be found within the Themes tab of the Ribbon.

Microsoft Office 2008 includes plenty of Themes that allow you to change how your documents, slides, and worksheets look. These Themes are available in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint -- in PowerPoint 2008, these built-in Themes can be found within the Slide Themes tab in the Elements Gallery. You can make some customizations to these Themes and then save or share the changed Themes -- in this tutorial, you are going to learn how you can do that within the various Office 2008 for Mac applications.

Applying a new Theme to a PowerPoint presentation completely changes the appearance of all slides in the presentation. This change happens because a Theme influences changes in Theme Colors, Theme Fonts, Theme Effects, Theme Backdrops and much more. However there are circumstances when you really don't require such a complete makeover or metamorphosis. In that case, you can still change only Theme Colors and Theme Fonts and leave all other Theme attributes unchanged.

This happens because a Theme contains a set of predefined Theme Colors, Theme Fonts, Theme Effects, Theme Backdrops, etc. However there may be scenarios in which you really don't require such a complete makeover or metamorphosis. In that case, you can still change only Theme Colors and Theme Fonts and leave all other Theme attributes unchanged. This will change just the colors and/or the fonts in your slides.

To do the same in Office 2008 for Mac, the procedure is little different. Here also you will find plenty of built-in Themes which you can choose from. A PowerPoint Blog: Saving Themes In PowerPoint, Word, and Excel 2010
Similar to PowerPoint 2007 (also Word and Excel), PowerPoint 2010 uses a variety of built-in Themes that are installed by default. In PowerPoint, you can find these in the Design tab of the Ribbon. It's a good idea to learn how you can save individual Theme files for several reasons: you may want to customize a particular Theme file, you may want to share it with others, or you may just want to backup the Theme file for future use. Whatever your reason may be, this tutorial shows you how you can save a Theme file from within PowerPoint 2010, Word 2010, or Excel 2010.
